In February 2009, we took a trip to Charleston, SC for Kevin's work and we enjoyed shopping, eating great food, carriage rides through the town, and going to the Low Country Childrens' Museum.
In March 2009 I was introduced to the world of childrens consignment sales and haven't been the same ever since! My first ones were with my good friend, Lisa, in Greensboro, and since then I've been hooked! Whit had his Easter picture made with live bunnies and ducks, and surprisingly did really great with the live animals! I attended an all-day scrapbooking event in Charlotte (which is a close second to spending a day at the spa for my all-time favorite way to spend a day).
In April 2009, Suzanne and I took Sanna and Whit to Blowing Rock and Boone for a day of shopping! We also went to the Bunny Breakfast at BR the Saturday before Easter with my Dad, Stepmom, and that side of the family.
In May 2009, Erica and I experienced IKEA for the first time and I wrapped up another semester of school at GTCC. I also went to my first Pampered Chef party and loved it! I met up with some of my college sorority sisters for a weekend at the beach for one of my sorority sister's bachelorette party. My step-brother, Robert, performed his senior piano, flute, and voice recital. Whit had his first appointment with a pediatric ophthalmologist at Baptist Hosptial this month as well. Tammy G., Becky, and I started a Wednesday morning Bible study at Calvary Baptist in W-S, studying Beth Moore's Esther.
Robert graduated from high school in June 2009 and Whit turned 2. Our friends Jason and Page welcomed their second little girl, Harper, into the world. Kevin and I left Whit with my Dad and Stepmom and traveled to Southport, NC for a wedding. Whit and I, along with my friends Lori and Amy and their boys, Conner and Blake, went on a storybook cookie cruise on Lake Norman and Whit and I headed to the beach at the end of the month. Whit also got his first pair of eyeglasses in June and continued to see the pediatric ophthalmologist every few weeks at Baptist. I taught an online class during the month of June for GTCC. Kevin worked hard in the early summer harvesting wheat.
Most of July 2009 was spent at the pool. We joined the BR pool for the summer and spent lots of time playing in the baby pool, eating lunch at the cabana grille, and lounging on floats in the lazy river. We also frequently went to the Wallburg pool with Suz and Sanna during the summer. We spent some more time down at the beach as well. Kevin, Whit, and I traveled with Suzanne, Jeremy, and Sanna to Boone for the night and visited Barney at Tweetsie! In July I also started this blog!
In August 2009, I attended the Deeper Still Event in Greensboro with an awesome group of ladies. Here's my blog posting from that event. We helped out with Vacation Bible School at Hillsdale Baptist in early August each night and had so much fun ministering to the children of the church and the community in doing that. We also tried out a new church in mid-August, Calvary West, and decided to leave Hillsdale Baptist, which we had been a member of for 4 years. We saw the Marshall Tucker Band in concert at Junker's Mill (Lori had never heard of this band before!) and of course August marked the start of a new semester at GTCC. I also took on a new role in MOPS for this school year as Creative Activities Coordinator.
In September 2009, Kevin was busy with the corn harvest and running things at the mill. Whit started mothers morning out/preschool at both Bethlehem UMC (Mondays and Wednesdays) and Hillsdale Baptist (Tuesdays and Thursdays). We got some great clothing and Santa gift bargains at fall consignment sales in September as well! We continued to visit churches in the area, trying to find a new church home.
We attended the Robertson family reunion at Bixby Presbyterian in early October 2009 and spent several days this month playing at Old Salem. Kevin and I spent a night in Gaffney, SC and Charlotte, NC shopping at the outlets, eating a yummy dinner, and spending some quality time together. We had a great Halloween Eve and Halloween night!
In November 2009, Kevin was busy with soy beans and that continued until the end of the year due to the crazy weather. I attended a program at Bethel UMC where a group who had just gotten back from Uganda and we decided we were going to Uganda in May 2010. I also started a new blog about our journey before, during, and after this mission trip. I went to the Women of Faith conference in Greensboro and was able to have a fun ladies overnight trip! We set up a fund raising site through Just Love Coffee where we can raise money for our trip to Uganda. We had a wonderful Thanksgiving with family but sadly the Saturday after (Nov. 28) lost my dear Uncle Sam who was only 50 years old.
December 2009 wrapped up another semester at GTCC and began my 3 week break from classes! Whit had his Christmas programs at his preschools, but had to miss the one at Bethlehem UMC because of a bad cold. We hosted a 60th birthday party for Kevin's parents, who both turn 60 within a month of each other. December was filled with fun activities, Christmas parties and festivities, and spending time with family and friends.
We praise God for such a wonderful 2009 and for carrying us through the difficult times of loss as well. We are so grateful for one more year together on Earth as a family and for the experiences we have encountered, both good and bad. His faithfulness never ceases to amaze me and as we close this year I look forward to greet another year.
We are so thankful for so many things this year, including our relationship with our Lord, our marriage, our precious son, our family and friends, and our jobs. We consider ourselves so blessed and look forward to sharing in more blessings in 2010!
Cheers Y'all!
